Zimbabwe, Getting Ready

Posted by Vic Lindal on October 4, 2015 at 3:40 AM

To my many friends,

Reality is starting to sink in.

I just packed my bags with donated uniforms, volleyballs and computer tablets.

Needless to say my Travel agent has suggested I get the airport early with the bags. (to negotiate )

We are sending out a separate letter with a thank you to those that donated. (spectacular by the way in the range of @2700)

Let me just cover the uniforms and balls...

Reynolds Secondary

Volleyball BC

Brentwood College

Tablets for the coaches from Data Wind

Dr. George McMaster, Dan Doherty, Sandy McMaster and yours truly created a complete manual call 'Radical Volleyball'

We cover a lot that is not normally covered in the general Volleyball books.

We focused on the EPV system to create a great program and teach all the skills, this is being printed in Zimbabwe at this moment.

Dr. George did a fantastic job and even added in some powerful concepts on breathing for centering and success.

Tom Graham contributed his journey through the BC team to the 76 Olympics.

Jason Sinclair helped explain some aspects of the Break Out service reception.

Chris Jenkins gave us his formula for 4 on 4 using the Jim Bjerring system

Some of the people receiving this note will know a little of the back story .

I will fill in some now.

Martin Dururu attended the National Coaching Institute at University of Victoria.

He assisted Linda Henderson with the Camosun Men’s Volleyball team.

At that time I was coach of the Camosun women.

We travelled on the bus for hours to places like Prince George and College of the Rockies

We had lots of time to help Martin with the EPV system and how he could use it when he got home.

Over the years we have arranged to send used Volleyballs from schools all over Canada and the US.

Some of you may know of the hyper inflation in Zimbabwe.  In fact you may know that it was so high they eliminated their own currency and now use US, South African or Chinese

T-shirts for the players and Polo shirts for the coaches are being printed in Zimbabwe

I will do what I can to send pictures and may up date on viclindal.ca or my face book page.

Now to the reality part.
